Dear Colleagues!

I would like to cordially invite you to the 10th Jubilee Congress of the Polish Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, which will be held on June 15-16, 2021 in on-line form.

After two decades of this extremely interesting and varied age, especially in the field of heart and lung disease treatment, the coming year 2021 seems to be appropriate to challenge not only COVID-19 disease, but also existing boundaries and broaden our horizons. I would like to encourage you to actively participate in our congress.

We have defined topics that we would like to pay special attention to:
• minimally invasive operations in cardiosurgery and thoracic surgery;
• transcatheter interventions on the heart valves (TAVI, MitraClip);
• treatment of end-stage heart and lung failure (ECMO, LVAD, heart transplants, lung transplants) including intensive care and rehabilitation;
• comprehensive treatment of aortic aneurysms;
• two-port right ventricle and large vessel transposition - complex forms - complex problems in pediatric cardiac surgery;
• limited resections in lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, reconstructive surgery in thoracic surgery;
• coordinated treatment of chest tumors;
• promotion of young talents and career prospects;
• risk management and quality aspects.


We want the above topics to be most widely reflected in the scientific program. I am proud that we have been organizing our congress together for many years as cardio - and thoracic surgeons. This fact alone speaks for the success of this concept. The resulting interdependence of the two specialties enriches all participants, promotes scientific exchange and improves our concepts of treating patients.

An important goal, and thus a particularly important and integral part of our conference, is the promotion of young talents. The efforts of our Society to make our specializations even more attractive to young colleagues will also be the subject of this year's congress. Only through the development of young generations can existing borders be overcome and horizons broadened.
